Major Accomplishments

  • Successful application to induct Abby Kelley Foster into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2011
  • Successful application to induct Abby Kelley Foster into the National Abolition Hall of Fame in 2011
  • Launched Worcester Women’s Oral History Project in 2005
  • Premiere of one-woman play "Yours for Humanity - Abby" written by Carolyn Howe and Karen Board Moran, January 17, 2004
  • Published Women's History Heritage Trail booklet in 2002
  • Hosted Women 2000, a national three-day conference to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first National Woman's Rights Convention. Women 2000 examined historical and contemporary aspects of women's lives and produced an original play "Angels and Infidels" based on the 1850 convention. October 20-22, 2000
  • Designed, installed and dedicated a plaque for Tuckerman Hall, former site of the Worcester Women's Club, and its architect, Josephine Wright Chapman, for Women's History Heritage Trail, March 4, 2000
  • Mechanics Hall Portraits commissioned four artists to paint the portraits of Clara Barton, Abby Kelley Foster, Dorothea Dix, Lucy Stone. Portraits installed in the Great Hall of Mechanics Hall, October 25, 1999, as part of the permanent collection
  • Designed, installed, dedicated and held press conference for first plaque on the Women's History Heritage Trail, 340 Main Street, Brinley Hall, October 1998. Site of first National Woman's Rights Convention, October 23, 1850
  • Women's History Workshop web site was recognized in report to President Clinton on March 15th, 1998, by the Commission on the Celebration of Women in American History.
