Why is Abby Kelley Foster important?
Abby Kelley Foster devoted most of her active years to the battle against slavery. She served as an important role model, and her work paved the way for others, including women such as Susan B. Anthony and Lucy Stone.
Her outstanding lifetime achievements in the women’s rights and anti-slavery movements have stood the test of time, and her example continues to inspire today.
She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame on October 1, 2011, and into the National Abolition Hall of Fame on October 22, 2011, by nominations of the Worcester Women's History Project.
